Our vacation program is in Education Business Services that provides vital support to the department and schools across the state. We:
- pay staff and provide essential goods and services
- plan, build, and maintain school facilities
- fund schools and deliver resources, ICT, and infrastructure
- manage information for informed decision making
- work with stakeholders to ensure compliance and strengthen our reputation.

Our vacation program
You’ll gain valuable hands-on experience in office administration and project support in the Education Business Services Division that sets you up with the knowledge and skills you need to kickstart your career.
Depending on the team you are placed with you could help with research or projects that support schools, or provide vital admin support such as managing incoming calls and emails and assisting with meetings. With guidance from a supportive team, you’ll develop practical skills in communication, organisation and problem solving.

How we support you
You’ll get a face-to-face induction, hands on training in your team, and a buddy to support you. You’ll also attend a career session to learn about job opportunities in the agency.
Your pay
Your pay will be around $3,150 before tax for the 2 week period (excluding superannuation).
Your pay is based on Level 1 Step 1 of the current public sector salary scale plus 25% leave loading (because you are employed as a ‘casual’).
You will also be paid 12% superannuation.
When
Monday 7 July to Friday 18 July 2025. It will be full time.
Where
The Department of Education building is at 151 Royal Street, East Perth.
There are many easy ways to get to work including bus (Yellow Cat), train (Claisebrook station), cycle or walk from the Perth city centre. Paid parking is also available at various public car parks in the area. However, the car parks can get full by 8:30 am.
