Who we are

Treasury is at the heart of government decision making, responsible for managing Western Australia’s public sector finances and overseeing the annual State Budget.

As the WA Government’s principal economic and financial advisor, we develop economic and revenue forecasts, and monitor the state’s economy and public sector finances. Our work ensures Western Australia’s economic prosperity remains on track.

About the program

Our 18 month graduate program accelerates your skills, applies your academic learning, and challenges you with high impact projects. As a Treasury Graduate Officer, you gain exposure to dynamic and collaborative work, engaging with high profile projects and key stakeholders across government.

There are 3 rotations across our 5 key business units, with the potential for a rotation at the Western Australian Treasury Corporation. After successfully completing 12 months of the program, you are permanently appointed.

By the end of the program, depending on performance, you could progress into roles such as Budget Analyst, Economic Modeller, Economic Analyst, Financial Analyst, Policy Officer or Advisor.

As we offer a wide range of career pathways, we welcome graduates from all disciplines. Previous graduates have studied Accounting, Actuarial Studies, Business, Commerce, Data Science, Economics, Finance, International Relations, Law and Public Policy.

Application information

To be considered for our program you must:

  • have successfully completed a tertiary degree between December 2023 and December 2025
  • demonstrate high academic achievement (weighted average mark of 70% or above)
  • be an Australian Citizen or an Australian permanent resident at the time you lodge your application
  • be available to start the program in mid-January 2026.
