Mineral resources

Managing the State's mineral resources, related mining legislation and partnership programs with traditional owners.

Access Data and Software Centre

Data and Software Centre (DASC) allows you to download spatial datasets relating to geology, mining and petroleum titles, geochemistry, and other geoscience information. You can also download spatial applications and training material.

Access Geochemistry (GeoChem Extract)

The GeoChem Extract application provides access to geochemical data generated from samples collected as part of the Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA) mapping and mineralisation programs.

Access historical mining tenement maps

Before the department’s computerised TENGRAPH system was implemented, hard copy maps were maintained, which showed the location of mining tenements within Western Australia.

Access MAGIX Online

A register and repository of geophysical survey datasets from a variety of sources.

Access Mining Notices

Mining Notices (including Tenement Application Advertising) is a system that displays mining tenement applications that have been lodged and also notification of the lodgement and finalisation of Surrenders and Withdrawals.

Access Resources Online

Resources Online is the new and secure digital solution to improve the efficiency of environmental applications under the Mining Act 1978 and State petroleum legislation.

Access Royalties Online

Royalties Online is available for mineral and petroleum producers to electronically prepare, lodge and view royalty returns and production reports.

Access the Mineral Systems Atlas

The Mineral Systems Atlas is an evolving, interactive GIS-based platform that delivers tailored data layers relevant to Western Australian mineral deposits.

Access the Mining Tenements dataset

Live and Pending Mining Tenement Data referencing both surveyed and unsurveyed mining tenements as they appear spatially within the TENGRAPH system.

Access the Safety Regulation System

The Safety Regulation System (SRS) allows users to lodge documents and data with the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS) electronically.

Apply for a programme of work

The Mining Act 1978 requires that a Programme of Work (PoW) is lodged and approved before conducting any ground disturbing activities with mechanised equipment.

Exploration Licences

On 28 June 1991, a graticular boundary (or block) system was introduced for Exploration Licences.

General Purpose Leases

A General Purpose Lease is for purposes such as operating machinery, depositing or treating tailings, etc.

Geoscience Thesaurus (GeMPeT)

GeMPeT provides geoscience professionals with a standardised terminology with which to index information assets such as reports, maps and digital datasets.

Marking Out Mining Tenure

All tenements apart from exploration licences, retention licences, miscellaneous licences and prescribed land prospecting licences must be marked out on the ground.

Mining Leases

A Mining Lease allows the lessee to carry out mining operations in, on or under the land, subject to conditions of the title.

Mining tenure dealings

A Dealing is a transfer or mortgage of a legal interest in a granted mining tenement.

Miscellaneous Licences

A miscellaneous licence is for purposes such as a roads and pipelines, or other purposes as prescribed in the Mining Act 1978.

Part IV proceedings

Part IV Proceedings relate to applications or objections under Part IV of the Mining Act 1978.

Prospecting licences
