Who we are

Government Sector Labour Relations is helping to shape a workforce that delivers for the WA community. With over 170,000 employees in the public sector workforce, our initiatives have broad and significant impacts upon government’s operation. We advise and represent public sector employers in industrial relations matters, including industrial agreement negotiation.

About the program

Government Sector Labour Relations is looking for exceptional people who are interested in working in the field of industrial relations or employee relations.

Our 12 month program provides you with a unique opportunity to embark on an industrial relations career in the public sector. Graduates start the program with us – we are a central agency function within the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety. Our program generally involves a ‘placement’ in a public sector agency to gain an insight into the management of operational workforce issues.

You must have completed (or will complete) an undergraduate degree or postgraduate qualification related to industrial relations, human resource management, psychology or law between 2023 and 2025. Applicants must be permanent residents or Australian citizens to be considered for this opportunity.
