Public Sector Vacation Program - Public Sector Commission

Get great experience and build your skills with this paid vacation work opportunity at the Public Sector Commission

How our work supports the WA community

The Public Sector Commission is working to create an innovative and future fit public service for the people of Western Australia – and here’s your chance to be a part of that future.

Our work supports thousands of staff and all agencies across the public sector to deliver services to Western Australians.

From creation of a learning initiative to upskill over 35,000 non-frontline workers, to monitoring and promoting integrity in everything we do, to creating policies and legislation to support inclusive and fair recruitment and employee supports across the sector, the Commission’s work has wide impact across the public sector.

Our vacation program

We have 4 placements:

  • Work with the Human Resources team to review and streamline the online resources that support our employees. You’ll learn about the employee lifecycle, ensuring our people can access information they need
  • Work with the Executive Services team to prepare for the Commission’s budget estimates hearing where the way we spend our funds is scrutinised by Parliament. You’ll develop project coordination skills as you help pull together documentation for the Premier.
  • Work with the Capability Review Program team to support their work that looks at how well agencies operate and how they can improve. You’ll research the way that other states run similar programs and complete project work that aims to deliver improvements to how we run the program.
  • Work with the Workforce Strategy team on employment pathways and attraction strategies for First Nations peoples. You’ll develop your research skills and contribute to initiatives that have a sectorwide impact.
