Who we are
The Department of Housing and Works is a central agency providing a broad and unique range of services with a dynamic, flexible workforce that embraces our values.
Our main functions are to:
- advise government on reform, procurement and policy
- build major non-residential projects like schools and hospitals
- buy by leading whole of government purchasing on behalf of the state
- collect revenue and administering grants to the community
- deliver corporate services using leading technology and continuous innovation.

About the program
Applications for our 2027 graduate program will open on Monday 23 February 2026.
As our department was established on 1 July 2025 as part of Public Sector Reform (we were previously the Department of Finance), we are reviewing our graduate program to create an even better graduate program in 2027.
