The Department of Fire and Emergency Services Vacation Student Program has a range of projects on offer – meaningful, real world projects that benefit community safety and kickstart your experience and networks to get you job ready!

In our 8 week program between January and March 2025, you are paid $1,080 a week for 30 hours of work (this is 80% of full time work). You’ll not only benefit from on-the-job learning but also receive high quality professional training and development opportunities.

If you are studying any of the following areas we particularly encourage you to apply:

  • Environmental Science, Land Management – final year of undergraduate or postgraduate studies
  • GIS and Remote Sensing – final year of undergraduate or postgraduate studies
  • Science Communication, Communication and Media Studies (Videography) – 
    undergraduate or postgraduate.

Work may be based at the Emergency Services Complex in Cockburn Central or at the Bushfire Centre of Excellence in Nambeelup.
