Geological Survey of Western Australia Graduate Program

An exciting new graduate program that gives you a competitive edge in the resources sector

About our program

The Geological Survey of Western Australia is part of the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety. Our department values diversity and appreciates every person’s perspective, bringing together a diverse and inclusive workforce to drive innovation and success.

This exciting 2 year graduate program gives you the competitive edge in the resources sector. It provides you with a broad range of advanced and applied geoscience skills, as well as a deep dive into how to access and use geoscience data.

The program creates unique opportunities for knowledge sharing and on-the-job applied geoscience training. You acquire technical skills that are applicable across all industry sectors rather than being industry or task specific. This competitive edge enables you to enter the resources sector with confidence and make a positive difference.

In the first year of the program your Honours or Masters studies are supported by a stipend of $35,000 - $50,000 depending on the type of degree.

In the second year, after you complete your Honours or Masters degree, you work as a full time employee with a starting salary of $79,857 a year, plus 11.5% superannuation.
