Reporting and accountability for the Executive Salary Expenditure Limit

Ensuring consistent classification of positions in the WA public service.

An agency’s Executive Salary Expenditure Limit is incorporated into its resource agreement. Financial reporting is part of the Department of Treasury’s usual State Budget, Mid-year Review and annual report on state finances processes.

Accountability for performance against the Executive Salary Expenditure Limit is  part of the CEO Performance Management Process.

An annual position reconciliation is conducted by the Commission with agencies as part of reporting and monitoring of the position baseline. This also informs Treasury’s current and outyear planning.

For agencies that do not have resource agreements, performance against the Executive Salary Expenditure Limit is reported in CEO performance agreements and monitored through the state budget management system.
