Last updated:

About

Through the Lithium Industry Support Program, Government Trading Enterprises (GTEs) including DevelopmentWA, Synergy and Water Corporation will temporarily waive government fees to support the continuation of downstream processing of lithium, for up to 2 years, to a total value of $90 million.

The State Government will provide assistance to lithium hydroxide refineries for a maximum period of two years, in the form of fee waivers for land, electricity and water costs associated with operating a refinery.

Who is eligible

Proponents operating lithium hydroxide refineries currently in construction, commissioning or operational phases of development in Western Australia.

Proponents are not required to be customers of a Government Trading Enterprise to be eligible under this program and can receive fees and charges waivers while being customers of alternate providers.

When will this come into effect

From 1 January 2025

Fees and charges incurred from 1 January 2025 will be eligible for the fee waiver. The program will run until 31 December 2026, or when the $30 million cap per lithium hydroxide refinery is reached - whichever comes first.
