Step 5: Minister consideration and decision on the proposal to establish or vary an apprenticeship

At this step of the establishment or variation of apprenticeships process, recommendations are made to the Minister for Training and Workforce Development on submitted proposal.

Recommendations to the Minister

This stage involves the proposal to establish or vary an apprenticeship* being submitted to the Minister for Training and Workforce Development for consideration.

Minister considers, seeks advice and makes decision

The Minister considers the Board’s recommendation/s and approves or rejects each proposal. The Minister must seek the advice of the Board who will make a recommendation following consultation with industry in the prescribed manner.

Minister's decision on the establishment or variation of an apprenticeship proposal is published

The Minister’s decision on the submitted establishment or variation of an apprenticeship proposal, if approved, is published in the Government Gazette.

Please note: If a proposal is rejected at any stage, the proponent will be notified. Otherwise, notification will occur at the end of the process.

*Apprenticeship means any employment-based training scheme whether termed an apprenticeship, traineeship, cadetship or internship.
