The Guidelines

The Guidelines for the establishment and variation of apprenticeships provide information on the submission process for the classification of prescribed vocational education and training (VET) qualifications. They are in accordance with Section 60C of the Vocational Education and Training Act 1996 (the Act) in WA.

The guidelines outline how the process is managed to ensure that:

  • the WA State Training Board provides advice and recommendations to the Minister for Training and Workforce Development in accordance with Section 60C of the Act;
  • the Board meets its obligations under Regulations 36 and 37 of the Vocational Education and Training (General) Regulations 2009 (VET Regulations); and
  • the WA industry training councils  meet requirements under Sections 21(1)(b) and (c) of the Act.

Guidance note

The guidance note provides practical guidance for the WA State Training Board’s Establishment and Variation of Apprenticeships Committee (EVAC) when assessing EVAC proposals and making its recommendations to the Minister for Training and Workforce Development.

It also assists proponents and industry training councils in the development of a proposal.
