About the Approvals portfolio
The Approvals portfolio is leading the provision of our state-wide place-based services and delivering the reforms necessary to ensure our services are integrated, efficient, risk based and customer focused.
The portfolio is designed to provide an integrated and coordinated state environmental approval service by:
- assessing major projects and providing services to the Environmental Protection Authority.
- delivering place-based regulatory services across the state including sustainably allocating water resources, native vegetation clearing and industry licensing
- implementing best-practice assurance programs
- piloting new approaches for green energy project approvals
- Implementing the government’s ambitious environmental approval reforms
The Approvals portfolio provides confidence to all Western Australians, including First Nations Australians, that the state’s water and environmental resources are being protected and sustained into the future.
