WA Renewable Hydrogen Fund Round 2 recipients announced

The government is investing $900,000 through the second round of the WA Renewable Hydrogen Fund towards 3 industry-led feasibility studies, which will build on the current level of investment in the WA renewable hydrogen industry. Congratulations to:

  • APT Management Services, who will progress their feasibility study on the conversion of the Parmelia gas pipeline into a 100 per cent hydrogen pipeline.
  • BP Australia, for their Kwinana Clean Fuels Hub feasibility study, which will see BP’s existing refinery facility used for green hydrogen and clean fuel production.
  • Global Energy Ventures (GEV), for their techno-commercial feasibility study to evaluate GEV’s proprietary Compressed Green Hydrogen (C-H2) shipping solution for the HyEnergy Project in Carnarvon.

These 3 feasibility studies, along with ATCO Gas Australia’s Hydrogen Blending capital works project, are the successful applicants from the second round of the WA Renewable Hydrogen Fund.

ATCO Australia’s capital works project will blend hydrogen produced at ATCO’s Clean Energy Innovation Hub into isolated sections of the Mid-West and South West Gas Distribution Systems (GDS), lowering emissions for the WA community. The project aims to blend up to 10 per cent hydrogen into the GDS, and will be the largest project of its kind in Australia.

These projects support the WA Renewable Hydrogen Strategy's strategic focus areas of export, hydrogen blending in natural gas networks and transport.
