How do I get the firearm description on my licence corrected or updated?

Produce the firearm to a licensed firearm dealer or approved club and obtain a Serviceability Certificate for the firearm/s in question. Mail the certificate to Licensing Services, Locked bag 9 East Perth WA 6892 or email us via the contact us form.

The information will be corrected on your firearm licence once the document is received and verified. An updated licence will be posted via Australia Post.

How do I inform Licensing Services of a change of my details?

Licensing Services must be notified of the following changes within 21 days:

  • Address, Residential and Postal
  • Storage location of your firearms
  • Name 
  • Date of Birth
  • Gender

All changes must be sent to Licensing Services in writing using the Change of Personal Details Form (LSF3) available in the Resources section of the Licence Renewals & Infringements page.

Where necessary a certified copy of the supporting documentation must be attached, (Change of Name, Birth Date, Gender) eg:

  • A Change of name certificate issued by the Department of Births, Deaths and Marriages; or
  • Full birth certificate that includes the schedule of all name changes; or
  • A marriage certificate; or
  • Decree Nisi (divorce).

Please note: The definition of certified: A copy of a document or record, signed and certified as a true copy of an original by an authorised person.

I have moved address and would like to update my storage?

You are required to provide a Form 22 Storage Statement with supporting photographs as per Regulations 11A and Schedule 4 of the Firearm Regulations 1974.

I will be relocating interstate with my WA registered firearms?

If you are intending to permanently relocate interstate, we require documentation confirming your WA registered firearms have been re-licensed as well as a copy of your new licence.

If you wish to close your WA firearm licence, we require confirmation from you stating your wish to close your WA firearms licence. You are required to return your WA paper licence and ELC to us to: Licensing Services, Locked Bag 9 East Perth WA 6892

Once you are licensed interstate and we receive all documentation, we are able to close your WA firearms licence.

Must I notify Licensing Services of a firearm sale, loss, theft or destruction?

Yes. Legislation requires that Western Australia Police Force be notified as soon as practicable.
