The Road Trauma Trust Account (RTTA) is a special purpose account created under the Road Safety Council Act 2002.
All safety camera fines are paid into the RTTA, with the reserve used to fund priority road safety projects addressing initiatives consistent with the State Government’s Driving Change – Road Safety Strategy for Western Australia 2020-2030. All funds must be invested in road safety initiatives.
Each year as part of the State Government Budget processes, the Expenditure Review Committee and Cabinet agree on RTTA funding allocations. The Minister for Road Safety determines the purposes for which money in the RTTA is applied. The RTTA funds are administered and managed by the Road Safety Commissioner on behalf of the Minster for Road Safety.
Any entity (community, peak body or private sector) and all public sector agencies are eligible to submit proposals seeking money from the RTTA. All proposals should consider what road safety benefit the project will have, and how the project aligns with both the State Governments Driving Change Strategy and Action Plan.
If you have any questions regarding the RTTA, please contact the Road Safety Commission at projects@rsc.wa.gov.au.
