For WA Government

The Supplier Wage Audit Unit works with contracting entities to conduct audits.
Last updated:

When conducting an audit, the Supplier Wage Audit Unit (SWAU) will need to verify the audit authority granted through the contract terms and conditions. The contractual clauses that provide such authority vary dependent on:

  • The value of the contract.
  • The date procured and what version of the contract general terms and conditions were used.
  • What contract documentation was utilised.

The Department of Finance website provides guidance materials and contractual model clauses for entities to utilise when procuring goods and services. For a new building and /or works contract, example clauses (PDF, 213.26KB) are available that can be inserted into your contract documentation that enable the SWAU to conduct audits.

The SWAU will check the authority clauses with the government entity prior to commencing any audit. Following completion of the audit the SWAU will provide findings to the contracting entity and assist the contract manager to determine any subsequent action. If any non-compliance is found the SWAU can refer the Supplier to the appropriate Regulator. This is in addition to any action that the contracting entity determined it will take.
