Decarbonising the Pilbara is part of WA’s transition to low-emission, renewable energy, using power from the sun and wind.

The Pilbara Roundtable brings together Traditional Owners, industry and State Government stakeholders to share knowledge and perspectives and work collaboratively to make informed decisions. An important part of the Roundtable’s work is to support Traditional Owner groups and communities to participate in, and benefit from, the region’s energy transition.

Pilbara Energy Transition Plan

A reinvigorated Pilbara Roundtable is implementing the Pilbara Energy Transition (PET) plan, moving towards a renewable energy future by developing common use transmission infrastructure in the Pilbara. This transmission infrastructure will help connect renewable energy generation to where electricity demand is located.

New common use infrastructure across the Pilbara will allow for access to more renewable resources, providing a reliable supply of energy and reducing the impact on Country by avoiding the need for many separate projects.
