The Coordinator of Energy invites stakeholder feedback on draft amendments to two WEM Procedures, being the:

  • Notices and Communications WEM Procedure; and

  • Procedure Administration WEM Procedure.

These existing WEM Procedures, which are currently under the remit of the Rule Change Panel, are being transferred as part of a suite of energy sector governance reforms announced by the Minister for Energy on 12 October 2020.

Further information on the governance changes, including previous consultation on draft amendments to the WEM Rules, is available on our webpage: WA's energy sector governance arrangements are changing.  The final changes to the WEM Rules, which will commence on 1 July 2021, are available on the Economic Regulation Authority’s website

The draft amendments to the above WEM Procedures have been made to account for the upcoming governance changes.  All amendments are in track changes for ease of identification. Following consultation, the procedure changes will commence on 1 July 2021.

Stakeholders are invited to provide feedback by  5.00pm AWST, Monday 24 May 2021 by email to energymarkets@energy.wa.gov.au

Please note that in accordance with WEM Rule 1.19A.1 (commencing on 1 July 2021), stakeholder consultation is occurring outside of the normal Procedure Change Process.

If you have any queries regarding the draft changes to the WEM Procedures, please contact Mena Gilchrist, Assistant Director, at mena.gilchrist@energy.wa.gov.au
