Green thumbs in our community organisations and local government authorities are encouraged to apply for grants of up to $10,000 as part of the State Government's Community Garden Grants Program.
This year’s total grant funding of nearly $270,000 sows the seed for 35 new garden projects, bringing the total number supported through the program to almost 100 over the past two years.
The Community Garden Grants program continues to grow in popularity each year and the latest funding round will see more than 20 projects delivered in regional areas of WA.
The successful 2024 grants will:
- support a youth and community garden in Newman;
- deliver a community orchard in the Shire of Murchison;
- establish an educational habitat garden in Perth’s north-east; and
- reinvigorate a garden project boosting food sustainability in the South West.
See below (under Documents) for the full list of 2024 recipients and their proposed projects.
Importantly, the gardens supported by the program also provide an opportunity for people to actively participate in the community, build relationships between neighbours and community members, and connect with nature and the environment.
The next round of Community Garden Grants funding will reopen in financial year 2025-26.
