Gascoyne Junction aims to deliver quality services for residents and visitors. Taking up the grant to sustainably increase our community infrastructure was an easy choice.
The opportunity to apply for a Charge Up grant to install an EV charging station at Gascoyne Junction was a simple decision for the local Shire.
The 2023 overall winner of Australia’s Tidy Town Sustainability Awards is always looking for ways to improve visitor experiences, enhance sustainability and offer new services to residents. Tourists often come to the region to explore the Kennedy Range and Mount Augustus National Parks.
Nearby local industry is also growing, including for rare earths and lithium mineralisation, the very metals needed for electrification. As electric vehicle ownership grows and local industry expands, the council wanted to ensure that visitors and residents were not hindered by a lack of critical infrastructure.
The availability of the charger has also opened the possibility of day trips between Carnarvon (176 kilometres away).
