After someone has died you will need to decide whether to hold a burial, cremation or memorial service:
- At a funeral, a service is held before the body is buried or cremated.
- A memorial service is held when the body of the loved one is not present.
- A graveside service is like a funeral but takes place at the gravesite.
Regardless of the type of service, you will need to choose a location such as a funeral home, church or synagogue.
A funeral director is not compulsory but recommended to help guide you through this process.
