About us
We are one of 9 regional development commissions across WA. Our job is to help make things better for people in the Gascoyne region by facilitating economic and social development.
We play a significant role in increasing and improving jobs, goods and services, investing in education and technology, and improving and building new facilities. We are involved in improving healthcare and social services, the environment in which we live as well as our culture and community.
All of these things make up the ‘livability’ of a town. It's all about whether a place has the things that make life enjoyable and easy for the people who live there.
We work directly with the office of the Minister for Regional Development and promote the priorities of the region like:
- creating more jobs and better career options
- growing and diversifying the types of businesses in the area
- figuring out what kinds of infrastructure (such as houses, roads etc) the region needs to grow
- helping local businesses succeed
- making sure that people in the region get the same quality of government services (such as healthcare and education) as people in big cities
- doing things to help the region's economy grow and keeping an eye on how well it's doing.

Benefits of doing a traineeship with us
At our Exmouth office you will be part of a team of 4. This means you will really get to dive into different projects and give hands on help with full training provided.
Working with us, you might chat to a farmer in Carnarvon one day, the next to a whale shark operator in Exmouth. You'll have the opportunity to truly make a difference by supporting the things that make a difference to the lives of local businesses and residents in your town. Joining our team means being part of a friendly and supportive group.
Your day will involve supporting the Exmouth team, as well as the collection of data for inclusion in reports and briefing notes for the Minister for Regional Development.
There is the chance to grow your career in the public sector!
