Heating is about 40% of the average energy bill in winter.
- The reverse cycle air conditioners in many of our homes are also our most efficient heaters and the cheapest to run. Aim for to set your thermostat 18-20°C.
- A lot of warm air escapes through windows. Closing curtains and blinds can make a noticeable difference.
- Seal any leaks around windows, doors, and vents to prevent warm air from escaping. This can be as simple as using cheap door snakes which drop into place or fitting draught strips to windows and doors.
Every degree you set your thermostat above 20°C can increase your energy bills by 10%.
