How to restore your expired electrician’s licence

Expired up to two years

To restore an electrician’s licence that has been expired up to two years you can use our online restoration service.

To use the restoration service you will need to know your licence number, which can be found on the front of your licence, have 100 points of ID in accordance with the Fact Sheet Proof of identity requirements for applicants for an electrical licence and complete the fit and proper assessment.

Fit and Proper Assessment

Statutory Declaration: A person applying for an electrical worker’s licence is required to provide a statutory declaration attesting to the fact that they have not been convicted of any offences under Australia law, excluding motor traffic offences. The statutory declaration is available here: Fit and Proper Statutory Declaration No.1

OR

National Police Check: A person who is unable to provide a statutory declaration attesting to the fact that they have not been convicted of any offences under Australian law, excluding motor vehicle offences is required to provide an Australian Police Check from the approved list of providers, available here: Police checks for licensing. The date of issue of the Australian Police Check must be within three months of the date you lodge it.

To safeguard your personal information, you will need to have an email address or mobile telephone number currently recorded with Licensing Services so that when prompted, we can SMS and/or email you your one-time security access code.

Online restoration service

Before commencing the online restoration process you must:

  • Know your licence number.
  • Have 100 points of ID ready to upload.
  • Have a complete fit and proper assessment ready to upload.

Expired over two years

Where an electrician’s licence has been expired between two and five years or more than five years, the Electrical Licensing Board requires that a person successfully completes additional training prior to restoring their name to the electrical licensing register. The training required is outlined in the relevant form below.

To enrol in this training you are required to obtain an approval letter from Licensing Services by contacting electricallicensing@demirs.wa.gov.au or (08) 6251 2000.
