Stage 6: Training

Stage 6 in developing and implementing a code of conduct

Training on the code builds knowledge about and understanding of its requirements and how to apply it in daily activities.

Under Commissioner’s Instruction 40, agencies must deliver formal and planned training and refresher training on their codes of conduct. This training should be part of an agency’s broader approach to integrity education which includes informal learning opportunities to support formal training. Refresher training should reinforce learnings and update staff on any changes to the agency’s code and integrity risk profile.

For more information about good and better practice ideas to support implementation refer to the Integrity Framework Guide (sections 1, 3 and 4). A guide for public sector agencies to develop and implement formal code of conduct training is available.
