In 2023, Department of Communities, as the lead government agency on Women’s Interests and International Women’s Day in WA, has adopted the UN Women Australia’s theme Cracking the Code: Innovation for a gender equal future. The theme emphasises the importance of bold, transformative ideas, inclusive technologies, and accessible education in combating discrimination and marginalisation of women around the world.

International Women’s Day aligns with the State Government’s Stronger Together – WA’s Plan for Gender Equality, which provides a framework for coordinated action by government, business, organisations and individuals with practical steps to advance gender equality over the next 10 years.
