Change of name from WEM Rules to ESM Rules

Since this web page was published, the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) Rules have been renamed the Electricity System and Market (ESM) Rules, and the Electricity Industry (Wholesale Electricity Market) Regulations 2004 (WEM Regulations) have been renamed the Electricity Industry (Electricity System and Market) Regulations 2004 (ESM Regulations). Changes have not been made to this web page to reflect this updated name.

The Coordinator of Energy (Coordinator) received a submission from Western Power on 26 August 2024, requesting that the Coordinator triggers a Non-Co-optimised Essential System Services (NCESS) procurement process for Network Support Services to resolve capacity constraints on five distribution feeders in metropolitan Perth to commence on 1 December 2025 with a three-year duration.  

The Coordinator has published a determination in accordance with section 3.11A of the Wholesale Electricity Market Rules, outlining the reasons for triggering the NCESS procurement process in this instance.
