The Community Housing Prequalification Scheme has been developed to provide a more cohesive and impactful collaboration between the Western Australian Government and the community housing sector, with the aim of providing better social and affordable housing for those in need.

The Scheme will support and promote growth in the community housing sector by reducing procurement times and cost and allowing CHPs to prequalify for predetermined categories of developments.

CHPs will be allocated to prequalification categories following an assessment of the mandatory requirements and statements of interest.

The scheme will reduce the cost and time burden of procurement for CHPs, reduce or remove Expression of Interest tender requirements, and allow them to prequalify for specific categories of development.

The scheme will also be available to Development WA and the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage.

The scheme is non-mandatory and CHPs will be free to choose to apply to be on the Scheme, while Government departments can choose whether to utilise CHPs from the scheme or undertake a traditional procurement process for individual opportunities.

Communities supports the sector through a range of programs, including the $152 million Community Housing Grants Program, which supports CHPs to deliver newly constructed community housing, refurbishment and maintenance on older housing stock.
