The Department of Communities (Communities) has launched its first Climate Action and Sustainability Strategy 2024-2027 (the Strategy).
Social and environmental issues are deeply interconnected, and the Strategy is a reflection of our holistic approach across environmental, social and governance issues.
By identifying the ways in which we can have the greatest positive impact, the Strategy will enable us to accelerate the transition to a climate positive future, while building safe and inclusive teams and communities.
The Strategy guides Communities’ contribution to the State Government’s climate adaptation and carbon reduction measures, and it builds on our vital work in making a positive difference to the lives of the Western Australians we serve.
Many actions are already underway including energy efficient home designs and programs to improve water and energy efficiency in existing homes.
The Strategy captures Communities’ policies and strategies that contribute to Environmental, Social, Governance outcomes in areas of Closing the Gap; Safety and Wellbeing; and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
