About the plaques program

Plaques are individually tailored to each place and list the State Registered place name and number along with a summary of the place’s Statement of Significance. To ensure longevity, each plaque is made in stainless steel and comes with an aluminium backing plate.

Should you receive a plaque, the Department will work with you on your preferred placement.

The plaques are offered on an annual basis and are provided free of charge. Places to receive a plaque will be chosen by the Heritage Council.

How to request a plaque

To register your interest in receiving a plaque, please email the Department and include the place number and a photograph of the  location you wish to have the plaque installed.

Virtual plaques

The Heritage Council also offer virtual plaques, which can be added to email signatures and websites to promote your heritage place through your business or website. Virtual plaques link through to the State Registered place listing in inHerit, our database of heritage places. For more information on the virtual plaques, please email the Department.
