Mineral investment

Trusted geoscience data and information for current and potential investors in our minerals sector.

Western Australia is one of the world’s premier destinations for mineral investment, offering a stable regulatory environment, world-class geology, and strong infrastructure. The State accounts for over half of Australia’s mining activity, with abundant resources of iron ore, gold, lithium, nickel, and rare earth elements.

We actively support investment through initiatives like the Exploration Incentive Scheme (EIS), which provides co-funding for drilling programs, and our core libraries, which house invaluable geological data. Investors benefit from a transparent approvals process, a well-established mining services sector, and access to global markets via major ports.

With the energy transition driving demand for critical minerals, our State is positioned as a key supplier of battery metals such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel. Downstream processing capabilities are also expanding, with projects focused on lithium hydroxide and rare earth refining.

Exploration remains strong, with ongoing discoveries in emerging mineral provinces such as the West Musgrave and Paterson regions. Our commitment to sustainability and responsible mining further enhances WA’s investment appeal.
