Applications for the 2025 Aboriginal Traineeship Program are closed.
As a part of our Aboriginal Traineeship Program, you will be placed in various business areas to learn and develop a range of public administration skills.
Your duties will include a range of computer-based activities and tasks including:
- Customer service via phone, email and in person.
- Data entry, file management, record keeping and word processing.
- Utilising Departmental systems and Microsoft Office.
- Other duties as required by the business area.
You will be given academic support to complete a nationally recognised Certificate III in Government. Trainees get to earn while they learn with benefits like:
- access up to 4 professional development workshops to expand your skills
- dedicated support from a buddy or mentor throughout your 12 months
- on the job training – no homework or offsite learning.
Eligibility to apply?
To be eligible you must be:
- committed to working full-time for 12 months in an office environment
- of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and are recognised as such by the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community
- willing to undergo an employment screening, which includes a National Criminal History Check and other checks that may be relevant to the position requirements.
