Oscar is annoyed his 9th birthday party is cancelled because of COVID. He stomps his way back out bush, with his little brother Angus and big sister Ella.

Oscar is upset about having to live in isolation again.

Angus is worried about getting sick and Ella wants to keep the peace at home.

How will the Emu chicks manage their big feelings?

And what will happen to Pippa the Dolphin when she has to leave home at a moment’s notice without any of her belongings?

This story gently explores the challenges children may have experienced during the COVID pandemic and which may also be relevant for children entering a refuge environment.

Using the different emotions and experiences of the ever changing landscape of the global pandemic Oscar’s Yarn allows for hard yarns about communicating safely, vaccinations and testing and emotions associated with homelessness and being displaced.
