Engineers Australia IWD lunch - 5 March, 12pm to 2pm

Championing and empowering women of industry.

Engineers Australia's IWD 2024 event is an opportunity to connect with a diverse range of professionals coming together to seek inspiration, celebrate achievements and collectively work towards a more inclusive world for women.

Keynote speaker Jamila Gordon has an illustrious career in renowned tech companies. Join us as she delves into this year’s IWD theme: Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress.

Jamila will share her captivating story, offering valuable advice on fostering diversity and progress, including effective mentorship and networking, creating a culture conducive to female engineers and practical tips to combat unconscious bias. Her unique blend of wisdom, good humour and positivity will make this celebration truly special.

Ishar's International Women’s Day Breakfast - 7 March, 7:30am to 9:30am

Join Ishar in celebrating International Women's Day (IWD) 2024.

The morning will feature a hot plated breakfast, and an inspiring panel discussion hosted by Alicia Curtis of 100 Women who will be joined by Hon. Ayor Makur Chuot MLC, Peter Bennett CEO of Clough, Ashley Mcgrath of CEO's for Gender Equity and Vince Connelly CEO of RSLWA.

The focus of the event is; "accelerating gender equality through economic empowerment" and we welcome people of all genders to attend. The event will encourage attendees to challenge gender bias and inequality in their lives, both professional and personal.

All proceeds go towards investing in Ishar's youth services and women's programs, which are vital services that support vulnerable refugee and migrant women and girls who have experienced family and domestic violence and/or sexual abuse, in healing and rebuilding their lives on their own terms. Through equal opportunity and empowering these women, together we can work towards including refugee and migrant women in our efforts to create gender equity for women, through economic empowerment.

CERI International Women's Day celebration - 7 March, 5pm to 7pm

This year CERI is celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) with some of the WA innovation sector’s leading women.

A panel discussion will cover this year’s topic of Inspire Inclusion and how women are being empowered in different industries. The panellists are:

  • Dr Tracey Wilkinson: Director of Stakeholder Engagement WA, MTPConnect - WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub. Tracey has more than 15 years' experience in the Medtech, Biotech, Pharma and Digital Health (MTP) sector across research, start-up and tech transfer roles.
  • Alison Morley: Managing Director – Studies – Rio Tinto. Alison is a geologist with 25 years in mining/energy. She has held various roles in the resources sector including underground mine geologist at Broken Hill and Mount Isa.
  • Professor Melanie Johnston-Hollitt: Director Curtin Institute for Data Science and Australian Space Data Analysis Facility. Melanie is an internationally prominent radio astronomer working in the space between astrophysics, computer science and big data.

The Women in Planning Network WA (WPN WA) invites you for breakfast as we celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) and present the Women in Planning Network Achiever Award and Leadership Award.

International Women's Day Crafternoon - 8 March 2024, 3pm to 6pm

Join us to celebrate our second International Women's Day Crafternoon to connect, chat and create!

CCLS, Women's Legal Services WA, Good Shepard Financial Independence Hub, and the Centre for Women's Safety and Wellbeing have partnered to celebrate women in our sector with an afternoon of inspiration, good fun and networking!

This year's theme for International Women's Day is - Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress. The theme this year ties in well with the work of all the hosts in working to address financial abuse, an insidious form of family violence that is often not recognised or well-resourced.

Bites and bubbles are provided. To cover the associated costs, we are asking for a $15.00 admission fee. There will be a number of crafts and activities provided, but feel free to bring any of your unfinished creations.

Inspire in Five - 8 March, 6:30pm

A STEM careers seminar for high school students, in celebration of women in science and engineering.

We have curated a team of WA's women in STEM technical experts and leaders who will have just five minutes each to inspire the crowd into STEM. The short presentations will be followed by a facilitated Q&A session. Free an open to all high school students, their families and teachers.
