Foster carer stories - Pat and Rhyce

Foster carers play a vital role in changing the lives of vulnerable children and young people by providing support, nurturing, guidance, and love.

Since 1986, Pat and Rhyce have cared for 90 different children and young people.

They are recognised for their willingness to engage with family members and support the parents and family carers of those young people they worked with. They embraced fostering and found a place within the fostering community, making many positive connections and sharing their knowledge and skills with newer foster carers.

Although retired from fostering now, Pat and Rhyce remain in touch with some of their foster children, who are now part of their family and whose own children even consider Pat and Rhyce grandparents!

This is a testament to the love, care and support that everyday people like Pat and Rhyce can provide, and just goes to show the positive lifelong impacts that foster caring can have on a young person, as well as their carers.
