Foster carer stories - Karen and Scott

Foster carers play a vital role in changing the lives of vulnerable children and young people by providing support, nurturing, guidance, and love.

Since Karen and Scott became foster carers in 2000, they have looked after at least 42 children and young people, including several sibling groups.

They have provided emergency, short-break, temporary and permanent care. The child in their current care has been with them since 2011. Another young person who has lived with them since 2004 is now a young adult studying at university to become a nurse.

Karen and Scott and some of the children and young people they have cared for in the past remain in contact.

Karen and Scott have provided a welcoming and loving home to all these children. They have supported them with their education and extra-curricular activities, including many camping holidays.

Their semi-rural home is a place of warmth and adventure. It brings Karen and Scott great pleasure to contribute to the children and young people having a good life.
