The Department of Communities, in partnership with other public sector agencies and sector partners, will be holding a series of free online webinars in 2024. These online sessions aim to support organisations to learn more about how to implement the National Principles and to further embed organisational child safe cultures and practices.

Webinars will include practical examples for organisations to use as part of their ongoing journey to become safer for children and young people.

National Principles for Child Safe Organisations Symposium 2024

During Children’s Week 2024, the Department of Communities, alongside the Supporting Communities Forum Child Safe Organisations Working Group, coordinated a National Principles for Child Safe Organisations Symposium on Monday 21 October.  You can access a recording of the Symposium below and hear directly from inspiring keynote speakers from 54 Reasons, Nature Play WA and lived experience and disability advocate, Kay Lane.

Child Safe Recruitment and Staff Support

With a focus on National Principle 5, this workshop included a range of guest speakers and covered the topics of recruitment, the role of screening, employee inductions and ongoing support.

WA Child Safe Project by WACOSS

The WA Government is supporting the Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS) to implement the WA Child Safe Project. 

The project aims to support small and medium-sized organisations – particularly in regional areas – with practical implementation of the National Principles.
