Service Design Professionals
Show moreThe role of professionals working in Service Design is to design and enhance the services provided by Communities, both solely and in partnership with non-government agencies and Aboriginal Controlled Community Organisations.
A significant part of their role is also service improvement. The process starts in Service Innovation and Customer Experience where the team uses a range of information and data collected to generate insights and ideas, designing service improvement-focussed projects for Service Design and Implementation to implement.
The Service Process and Support team design and implement the operational frameworks to support and improve our frontline services.
Strategy and Policy Professionals
Show moreStrategy and Policy Professionals contribute to the development of strategies and policies across multiple portfolios in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to guide service delivery, investment and initiatives. They coordinate development and delivery of whole of government priorities, initiatives and projects. Some notable examples of this include All Paths Lead to a Home - Western Australia’s 10-Year Strategy on Homelessness 2020-2030 and Path to Safety: Western Australia’s Strategy to Reduce Family and Domestic Violence 2020–2030.
Other roles within the Department relating to strategy and policy are responsible for functions such as organisational transformation, change management, innovation and strategic and business planning.
Project Management Professionals
Show moreIndividuals working in project management have the primary responsibility of leading or contributing to the end-to-end delivery of significant high value and high complexity projects or minor small-scale projects and initiatives.
This includes but is not limited to; developing scoping for key initiatives to facilitate the establishment of policy/project frameworks and plans, engagement with key contractors, suppliers and stakeholders and providing reporting on project status, critical issues, risks and escalation strategies to achieve project delivery.
Given the size and diversity of functions at Communities, we have varying projects across our different divisions such as IT projects, people and culture projects, Housing and Assets projects, as well as projects that aim to improve outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Integrity and Standards Officers
Show moreOfficers working in Integrity and Standards conduct investigations following notifications of incidents or complaints (e.g. prepare and analyse evidence to determine any enforcement actions relating to Code of Conduct breaches).
Officers working in Integrity and Standards make recommendations on prosecutions and complete required actions including preparing reports and brief evidence, collate case information in a format that is admissible for court proceedings and present evidence and information at proceedings in accordance with relevant legislation.
Research, Evaluation and Data Analysis Professionals

Education and Care Regulatory Unit (ECRU) team
Show moreRoles at ECRU are interesting and diverse. The team at ECRU work together with the early childhood education and care sector in Western Australia. With the joint goal of educating and caring for children’s health, safety and wellbeing.
Assessments – Authorised Officers in Assessments conduct regular visits at education and care services. These visits vary in purpose, from compliance visits to assessment and rating of quality. With an opportunity to travel throughout Western Australia, the Authorised Officers in Assessments interface with our sector directly and develop exceptional knowledge of legislation, best practice and sector trends.
Positions in the Assessment Team include Quality Manager, Team Leader Assessments, Senior Assessment Officer, Assessment Officer, Compliance Support Officer.
Investigations – Authorised Officers conduct investigations following reports of serious incidents or complaints (e.g. prepare and analyse evidence to determine enforcement actions relating to legislative breaches).
Authorised Officers recommend prosecutions and prepare case information admissible for court proceedings and present evidence and information at proceedings in accordance with relevant legislation.
Positions in the Investigations Team include Team Leader Investigations, Senior Investigations Officer, Investigations Officer.

Operations – Officers work in conjunction with the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) to process applications, validate documentation and communicate with providers and services. Conducting online assessments of relevant providers and service staff ensures good outcomes for services in Western Australia.
Officers provide support in areas such as human resources, travel and administration. Varied skillsets and a desire to provide excellent customer service is required.
