Disability Justice Officers provide in-reach services to those held in prison or Banksia Hill Detention Centre. The role is part of a team that assists disability sector organisations and the justice system to understand and better support people with disability around issues relating to offending behaviour. Disability Justice Officers deliver customised disability awareness training to agencies involved in the justice system.

Disability Support Workers employed by the Department of Communities are known as Social Trainers. Social Trainers support individuals with an intellectual disability or Autism to live their lives as independently as possible. This may involve support with their personal care including bathing, dressing, personal hygiene and toileting, household duties and community activities. 

Social Trainers may be required to work with either adults or children, in a variety of accommodation options, across the Perth Metropolitan Area. Social Workers work shifts with a changing roster involving a mix of morning, afternoon and overnight shifts rostered across Monday to Sunday.
