Part of the Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Roadmap, the DER Orchestration Roles and Responsibilities Information Paper sets-out key foundational requirements and implementation pathways for the Distribution System Operator (DSO), Distribution Market Operator (DMO), and DER Aggregator functions in the South West Interconnected System (SWIS).

It also provides policy guidance to support the future aggregation and participation in Western Australia’s Wholesale Electricity Market of DER such as rooftop solar and battery storage, as well as manageable loads such as hot water systems, air-conditioning, and electric vehicle chargers.

This work is essential reading for stakeholders wishing to understand the approach being taken to DER aggregation and orchestration in Western Australia or those with an interest in the practical and policy implications of integrating low-emission DER into gigawatt-scale power systems and markets.
