Contractors and asbestos in government buildings

Contractors are responsible for working with asbestos containing materials (ACM) under the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and the Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022.

Contractors working with asbestos containing materials in government buildings

Contractors undertaking asbestos related works in government owned buildings must comply with Western Australian Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation and applicable codes of practice.

Any work involving asbestos-containing materials (ACM) under Department of Finance contract obligations must adhere to licensing arrangements and prioritise safety in compliance with WA WHS legislation.

Where work in any government building potentially involves ACM, the Contractor must access the sites ACM Register and complete the Building Maintenance Logbook.
