WEM Reform Implementation Group (WRIG)

The WEM Reform Implementation Group was established by the Energy Transformation Unit in March 2020. It is a forum to consult stakeholders on the implementation of the Foundation Regulatory Frameworks workstream of the Energy Transformation Strategy.
Last updated:

As of May 2022, AEMO is responsible for chairing and hosting WRIG meetings – taking over from Energy Policy WA (EPWA).

If you are not already subscribed to AEMO’s mailing list and wish to receive future meeting invitations, please email wa.ets@aemo.com.au

The WRIG will:

  • develop a Joint Industry Plan for the transition to new market arrangements, including ongoing status assessment reporting;
  • identify and manage key program risk, assumptions, issues and dependencies; and
  • resolve challenges to the implementation of the new WEM, including developing transition arrangements.

The Energy Transformation Implementation Unit (Chair of the working group) encourages industry participation through the WRIG.

Additional sub-groups will be formed to discuss specific technical matters, including development of IT systems and interfaces. These meetings are best attended by technical and subject-matter experts representing industry stakeholders.
