These regulations provide certain customer protections for small-use gas and electricity customers.
The purpose of the Review was to provide a streamlined and consistent framework for delivering customer protections by removing outdated references within the regulations and duplications with other instruments.

The Electricity Industry (Customer Contracts) Amendment Regulations 2022 and the Energy Coordination (Customer Contracts) Amendment Regulations 2022, which give effect to the recommendations outlined in Final Recommendations Report, were gazetted on 17 June 2022 and come into effect on 1 January 2023.
