The National Gas Access (WA) Act 2009 adopts a modified form of the National Gas Law (NGL) known as the Western Australian National Gas Access Law (NGLWA). This provides a framework for the economic regulation of third-party access to gas pipelines in Western Australia.
The Western Australian Government intends to use relevant amendments to the National Gas Law made by the Statutes Amendment (National Energy Laws) (Omnibus) Act 2021 (SA) (Omnibus Package).
Other Australian jurisdictions adopted the Omnibus Package on 15 April 2021. This involved minor energy market reform policy initiatives and minor corrections or changes to address ambiguity (see Omnibus Legislative Amendments – National Consultation).
Detailed information and documents are available on the page - National Gas Law: Western Australian adoption of Omnibus Package.
Energy Policy WA welcomes stakeholder input on the draft regulatory instruments by e-mail to EPWA-Submissions@demirs.wa.gov.au by 5:00pm (AWST) on Friday 6 September 2024.
