Generation licence exemption granted to Fortescue Metals Group Limited

Energy Policy WA sought public comment on an application from Fortescue Metals Group Limited to operate generation works that will connect to the Pilbara Energy Connection.

Energy Policy WA received an application from Fortescue Metals Group Limited to operate existing and proposed generation works. These works will connect to the proposed Pilbara Energy Connection electricity transmission system. 


The public consultation period closed on 13 August 2020. No submissions were received on the application. A copy of the licence exemption application can be found below. 


Fortescue Metals Group Limited has now been granted a generation licence exemption by the Governor under section 8 of the Electricity Industry Act 2004.  A current version of the exemption can be found in the Electricity Industry Exemption Order 2005 on the Western Australian Legislation website.
