Electricity retail licence exemption granted to Fortescue Metals Group Ltd

A retail licence exemption has been granted to Fortescue Metals Group Ltd, and related entities, to sell electricity to the Iron Bridge Magnetite Project or other FMG related entities in the Pilbara.

Energy Policy WA sought public comment on a licence exemption from Fortescue Metals Group Limited for its wholly-owned subsidiary, FMG Clean Energy Pty Ltd, to sell electricity transported by its Pilbara Energy Connection electricity transmission system.

The public consultation period on the application closed on 21 May 2021. A copy of the licence exemption application can be found below. No submissions were received on the application.

Fortescue Metals Group Ltd and its entities has now been granted a retail licence exemption by the Governor under section 8 of the Electricity Industry Act 2004. The exemption can be found in the Electricity Industry Exemption Order 2005 on the Western Australian Legislation website.
