These resources are provided to support Early Years Networks across Western Australia. Early Years Networks are encouraged to work alongside community members and groups to identify priorities, develop capacity and utilise resources. Wherever possible, Early Years Networks should build on the experiences of those who have created and facilitated successful Early Years Network development and activities.
Working Together for a Common Purpose
The ‘Working Together for a Common Purpose’ infographic demonstrates to stakeholders what Early Years Networks are and how they work to achieve better outcomes for local children and families. The document highlights the importance of the early years in a child’s life to provide the foundations for a future of good health, solid relationships and overall wellbeing in adulthood.
Early Years Network Resources
To assist with establishing, developing, and sustaining Early Years Networks, these resources are provided for place-based government and non-government community service providers and community members.
In the Resources section you will find:
- Governance planning and recording templates and examples: templates and examples relating to governance, planning and recording (please note that you can remove the ’sample’ watermark by clicking the Design tab, choosing Watermark and remove watermark)
- Information sheets: information about specific aspects of Early Years Networks
- Tools: a framework for activities which may be adjusted to suit the needs of your community.

- Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) : This website has a range of online resources, including fact sheets, videos, and research articles. - Center on the Developing Child, Harvard University: The mission of the Center on the Developing Child is to drive science-based innovation that achieves breakthrough outcomes for children facing adversity.
- Community Development : This website contains many tools relevant to the process of collecting community information.
- Community engagement: A key strategy for improving outcomes for Australian Families’ CFCA Paper No 39.
- Community Toolbox : This website is useful for evaluating community programs and initiatives.
- National Principles for Child Safe Organisations
- Safer WA for Children and Young People. Safer WA was developed as part of the Western Australian Government's implementation of the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
- Moving Forward Together: A guide to support the integration of service delivery for children and families (Centre for Community Child Health, VIC and Same Page Organisational Development Consultancy, WA, 2010): This is a paper based on the experience of the Learning and Development Strategy for the Tasmanian Child and Family Centres Project.
- Office of Multicultural Interests : This website has useful resources including Search Diversity WA, an online search facility that details the demographic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds of Western Australians, including profiles of all WA electoral divisions and local government areas.
- Platforms – A Service Redevelopment Framework: This has been developed by the Royal Children’s Hospital, Centre for Community Child Health (CCH) to help communities support childhood development. Platforms can help communities to build community partnerships to lead the reconfiguration of services; identify, plan, and respond to the needs of their children; monitor and evaluate their work to ensure outcomes for children are improving.
- Raising Children Network: This organisation offers parents and practitioners reliable information and resources to support them in the day-to-day work of raising children and looking after their own needs. It covers a broad range of topics including child development, useful profiles, information for Aboriginal parents and raising a child in a different culture.
- Secretariat of National Aboriginal and Islander Child Care (SNAICC): This group represents the interests of, and provides practical resources for, Indigenous children and families, including resources to support organisations working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and communities to implement the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
