The theme for Youth Week WA 2025 has been announced as ‘Our Threads, This Place, Your Moment.’
Youth Week WA is Western Australia’s largest annual celebration of young people aged 10 to 25, providing them with an opportunity to express their ideas, raise important issues, create entertainment and celebrate young people’s contribution to the community.
Key Youth Week initiatives include the annual KickstART Festival in partnership with Propel Youth Arts WA, a grants program for Youth Week WA projects, and the appointment of four Youth Week WA Ambassadors to represent young people across the State.
This year’s theme, developed by the Youth Week WA Planning Committee - a dedicated group of inspiring young people, including the four Ambassadors - underscores the deep connections young people have with their community, each other, and themselves.
‘Our Threads’ symbolises interconnectedness, much like threads in a piece of fabric, where each person contributes to the tapestry. It emphasises young people coming together across the State, weaving their stories and experiences into a collective whole.
‘This Place’ represents both the physical and social environments we inhabit. It celebrates the communities and landscapes that make up WA.
‘Your Moment’ spotlights the remarkable achievements of young people today. It highlights that now is the perfect time to make an impact, be seen, and feel connected.
Youth Week WA 2025 Ambassador Om Sharma says the theme emphasises the incredible potential of young people to achieve great things in the present.
“Rather than focusing on the idea that young people are great only because of their future potential, the theme highlights that the connections we share in the present, along with our shared belonging to WA, are more than enough to make a significant impact in the ‘now’,” he said.
Youth Week WA 2025 will run from 10 to 17 April with over 100 events across the State.
The Department of Communities is responsible for coordinating and promoting Youth Week WA.
