The State Government has announced a total of $80,000 of funding to support activities and events that will bring young people together for Youth Week WA.
Held each year in April, Youth Week is the largest celebration of young people aged 10 to 25 in Western Australia. It provides opportunities for young people to express ideas, raise important issues and connect with peers in their local communities.
Grants of up to $1,500 are available for organisations to deliver a range of projects including festivals, events, workshops, seminars, presentations, award ceremonies and youth forums.
Grants of up to $3,000 are also available for collaborative, community-wide events such as youth festivals with multiple organisations hosting a program of activities.
Previous grant recipient, The Shire of Murray used their funding for a range of activities as part of the Murray Youth Festival.
CEO Dean Unsworth said the festival was a huge success.
"Events like these are highly requested by our community and are a great way to bring our youth together," he said.
"This year we had over 400 people in attendance for a day full of mini-golf, raft-making, inflatable basketball and more.
"Thanks to the support of the Youth Week grants, we are able to provide great events like these for our community."
The next Youth Week WA will be held from 10 to 17 April 2025.
Applications for Youth Week WA Grants close at 2:30pm on Tuesday 6 August 2024.
